Radek, what jobs can you get with a Digital Media Degree? I’m wondering, what can I do with a Digital Media Degree?
It’s difficult, if not impossible, to go anywhere without seeing evidence of the people working in digital media. From CDs to DVDs to the Internet to your smart phone—wherever there is communication, especially mass communication, there is a need for people skilled in digital media.
You could go into video production, audio production, game design, 4D design, television, broadcasting, website design, or graphic design. You could also go into e-commerce, sales, marketing, advertising — digital media majors are needed in nearly every business and industry. Potential employers could range from Google to your local museum, from a television station to your local elementary school. Or, maybe you would end up running your own Internet media company!
Digital media is constantly changing. While starting out in college will give you a good base, it’s important to recognize that digital media is a career that demands its workers are diligent in learning about the newest trends and technology. The people who get ahead in this field are the ones who devise the newest, most innovative creations and therefore spend a good portion of their working careers continuing to study. I spent 5 years working as a graphic designer and advertising manager before starting off on my own as a freelancer, which I have been doing for 9 years now.
