Radek, what jobs can you get with a Gerontology Degree? I’m wondering, what can I do with a Gerontology Degree?
The population of older people is increasing for several reasons. Baby boomers are growing older. The population is increasing in general. And our health care has improved, so people are just living longer in general. This means that there are many, many jobs available for people educated in gerontology.
Gerontology degree program graduates may find themselves developing programs for older people, e.g., health programs, activities, special events, and social functions. They might also work for an agency that provides counseling services. They might also work in health care, in hospitals, clinics, day care programs, home care programs, or residential facilities. They might also go into research or advocacy, advising policy-makers about what is best for the older population.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job prospects for social and human services assistants are expected to be excellent, especially for those with a relevant college education.
