Emergency management positions are available at all levels of government. You might find yourself working for FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) or for your local city government. Some states even have a specific department for emergency management, e.g., North Dakota Department of Emergency Services.
Also, many community / humanitarian organizations hire people trained in emergency management. Other potential employers include the Department of Homeland Security, the military, law enforcement agencies, hospitals, businesses, banks, insurance companies, and even schools and churches.
Be aware that some jobs will require you to become certified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
